Boarding

An overnight stay while you are away.

Our convenient extended-stay service gives your dog the best of both worlds: playing with their daycare friends during the day, and a comfortable home-away-from-home for the night!

We are currently accepting new boarding clients - please note that if you primarily need boarding services, your dog is required to stay at minimum 2x per year so that they are comfortable in our social environment. If it has been over 6 months since your dog has boarded, they will be required to do a re-trial to make sure our social environment is still a good fit for them.

FAQs

  • Yes! If it has been 6 months or longer since your dog has been here for daycare and/or boarding, they must pass a Trial Day again to make sure our social environment is still a good fit for them.

(Trial Day = day of daycare where your dog is here for a minimum of 4 hours for an assessment of their socializing in a group of dogs, and how they do for kennel rest time)

A re-trial is required because a lot can happen in 6 months - dogs personalities can change due to age, health conditions, life events, etc so it's to ensure everyone's safety - your dog, and all of our staff.

To avoid having to do a re-trial, make sure your dog attends daycare/boarding every few weeks/months to stay comfortable with our environment.

  • Yes!

As of July 15, 2022, all boarding stays will require a deposit to hold their spot. A spot is not held until a deposit has been received.

The deposit is $54 + GST ($56.70 total)

Deposits will be made at the time of booking with a credit card over the phone. For regular clients who wish to leave a credit card on file, your credit card will be charged at the time of the booking.

This deposit is refundable up until 10 calendar days prior to your dog’s stay. If your booking is cancelled within 10 calendar days prior to the stay, the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

If you need to change the dates of your stay (with-in the same time frame), you can do so up until 48 hrs prior to the stay.

If you pick up early, without 24 hr notice to our staff, you will be charged for all nights originally booked.

  • Our team is with the dogs until 8pm, and then back again first thing in the morning at 6am!

We do have cameras recording at our facility overnight.

  • Yes!

When dogs come for boarding at The Dawg House, they stay in a kennel overnight, but during the day they have playtime in small groups with other dogs of similar temperament.

The groups are on rotation to provide structure to the daycare day, so the pups get rest/nap time in the kennel as well as playtime with their groups, indoors as well as outdoors, as weather permits!

  • Our average kennel size is 4’ x 6’. This accommodates most dogs, but we do have some larger 5’ x 8’ kennels for big dogs, or when siblings come to stay!

We also have smaller 3’ x 6’ kennels for the little pups.

  • Yes, we do have dog beds available, or you can bring your dog’s bed from home and we’ll put it in the kennel so your pup feels right at home!

You can also bring a stuffed animal or enrichment activity (bone, lick mat, things for them to do while enjoying a rest in their kennel)

  • Yes! We do ask that you bring dog food for the stay, and remember: your dog may need to eat more than normal because of increased activity!

We provide the bowls for food & water.

If you feed your dog raw food, we can keep it in our fridge here.

You can also bring any medication you'd like us to administer while they are staying here.

  • Please send any medications your dog is currently taking. You can also bring a stuffed animal/bone/enrichment toy if you'd like!

  • All dogs over 6 months old are required to be spayed / neutered to attend boarding & daycare.

  • Yes we do! We have dogs stay with us anywhere from 1 night, to 1 week, to even a month-long stay.

After your dog has completed a Trial Day, please contact us to inquire about boarding date availability.

If your dog is staying with us for a week or more, we HIGHLY recommend they come for at least a 1-night stay prior to their longer boarding stay, to get familiarized with our facility & so they’ll feel more comfortable.

All boarding stays over 2 weeks include a complimentary groom.

  • We have a couple different kennel types to fit your dog’s needs: our main kennels have solid walls, so your dog is able to rest & not feel overstimulated by activity happening outside the kennel. We also have wire kennels for dogs who do better with this set-up.

Another service we offer is a lick mat add-on, where we give your dog a frozen lick mat to enjoy in their kennel. Lick mats are an enrichment activity, and licking is a soothing stress-reliever for a lot of dogs. The lick mats are frozen to increase the duration of the activity, and provide additional mental stimulation.

The lick mat recipe can include pumpkin puree, plain yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, blueberries, peanut butter, fruit, and treats. Please let us know if your dog has any allergies prior to requesting a lick mat add-on for their boarding stay.

Boarding Pricing

Effective November 1st, 2023

We have a minimum 1 day + 1 night fee for all boarding stays. If your dog is boarding on a day that you have a regular subscription, that day will be taken off the total at time of pick-up. Your pre-paid deposit will also be taken off your total at pick-up.

If it has been over 6 months since your dog has attended daycare, they will be required to do a re-trial to make sure our social environment is still a good fit for them.

  • All prices subject to tax

  • If dogs require more than 1 kennel = single dog prices

  • Feeding separate & special diets, and giving medication are no extra fees. Our food is $2 per meal

  • Drop-off time for boarding is after 3pm

  • Pick-up time for boarding is before 11am

  • If you dog is here with us outside of these hours (ex: you pick them up after 11am), then it counts as a day of daycare, as they are occupying a spot in one of our playgroups

For example: if you drop your dog off on Thursday at 5pm (after the drop-off time), and pick them up on Monday at 10am (before the pick up time), your total will be for 3 days + 4 nights.
